Members: Please
review the following and contact an Officer to sign up for a committee.
(1) Membership, Attendance &
Retention Committee
- To promote membership attendance at regular
monthly meetings and other lodge activities. Contact is made with lodge members in
various ways, including a telephone
calling system (See Phyllis Terrana).
- It is the function of this committee to
formulate a program and plan to attract new members and to discourage
members from resigning by ascertaining their reasons for loss of interest in the lodge and
correcting conditions if the lodge is at fault
Examples:
1.
Distribution of lodge
pamphlet soliciting membership.
2.
Maintenance of “Suggestion
Box”.

(2) Sunshine and Hospitality Committee
- This committee is encouraged to recognize
members by sending cards
(could be birthday or get well wishes).
In case of death of a member, as many members as possible could attend the viewing as a
group.
- Assignment of “Greeters” to welcome members and newcomers at EVERY
meeting/dinner.
- Handles refreshments
for any lodge gathering. The cost
may be at the expense of the lodge, collected from members at the
gathering, or donated. Members of
this committee take an active interest in new members and see that they are properly assimilated
into the lodge.
- Promote and facilitate lodge entertainment
through trips, shows, etc (coordinate with Program Committee)
- Members decorate
(tables, room) for special events.

(3) Ways & Means /
Fundraising Committee
- This
committee should prepare the lodge’s administrative budget and see that it is adhered to.
- Members
formulate plans for raising
money by means of various activities. The Treasurer
and Financial Secretary should be members of this committee.
- This
committee should manage the Gaming
License since it facilitates fundraising through various
activities, such as: jars, raffles,
wheels, bingo, 50/50, Vegas Night, etc.
- Oversight
for Pasta Dinners,
Italian Feast/Festival, and
other major events.
- Assures member at all events
to handle Jar and 50/50 activities.

(4) Program, Education/Culture,
& Public Relations Committee
- Arrange
for guests to appear at
meetings to present cultural, educational and social programs.
- Assist
in preserving and developing an appreciation of our rich cultural heritage,
- Promote/Expand
a Scholarship program,
- Promote
and support the study of Italian
language,
- Prepare
items for publishing and
advertising (e.g., in the Sons of Italy Times, OSIA Magazine,
local newspapers and/or radio in Hanover, York, Baltimore, Frederick,
Gettysburg, as needed.
- Halloween Parade and Columbus
Activities.

(5) Charity Committee
- At the present time, the Grand Lodge supports
Alzheimer’s Research and
Cooley ’s Anemia Research. Local lodges may contribute to these and
other charities or needy individuals of their choosing. Committee will propose a local charity to support
each year.
- Coordinate with Ways and Means for developing
and staffing fundraising events.
- Plan and organize “Dine-around” dinners to support our charity.

(6) Sports Committee
- This
committee coordinates with the Grand Lodge Sports Committee activities and
the local lodge sports program, e.g., Bocce,
(maybe Poker, Bingo).
- Sports
activities can be aligned with Education,
Culture, Public Relations and Entertainment for lodge members and
their families. Events could also
support Charities, Scholarship,
or other specific fundraising
depending on event and venue.
